Ondine credits her skill with images as a combination of genetics and a lifelong interest in comics, photography, film and reading.
As a young girl, she avidly devoured early DC Worlds Finest comics and works by authors as diverse as Shakespeare, Nora Zeale Hurston, and Orson Scott Card, while enjoying the sparkling banter of comedy/mysteries such as The Thin Man and classic multi-genre dramas like Tsui Harks "Peking Opera Blues."
As a designer and art director in Chicago, Ondine has worked for First Publishing (the company that successfully revived Classics Illustrated) and NewCity Communications (producers of NewCityChicago.com.) She managed scores of freelance projects with companies such as Propago, Temkin Advertising and Marketing Solutions.
Since moving to San Francisco in the early '90s, Ondine has designed and art directed for Factsheet Five, Star*Reach, San Francisco Magazine, The San Francisco Bay Guardian, and other clients. She has also worked as a freelance video editor for companies such as ODC Dance, Smith & Hawken and E*Trade. She currently works as art director for Film Tape World and production manager for Curve Magazine, the best-selling lesbian magazine.
